Albany (pictured) completed a three-game sweep at the Albany JV Baseball Easter Tournament and improved to 11-4 overall with a 6-2 win over Skyline on the final day of tournament play at Cougar Field. The Cougars jumped out quickly, opening the bottom of the 1st inning with four straight singles by Garrett Freeberg, Irvin Quach, Paul Kennedy and Adam Lieber. Albany broke the game open with four runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning on a single by Sean Piedra, groundout by Freeberg and two-run single by Quach. Robert Crowley pitched four scoreless innings to get the win. Kyle Tannahill threw out three baserunners from behind the plate.

Albany JV Baseball Easter Tournament (April 13-14)

For the second game in a row, El Cerrito rallied to win in its last at-bat. Trailing 2-1, El Cerrito tied the score when Tyler DeMartini was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded and Jamarrio Harris singled home Shea Harrison with the winning run. Robert Clemons homered for Acalanes.

Lucas Yovanovich pitched a one-hitter to give the Cougars' their second win. El Cerrito leadoff batter Shea Harrison scored in the top of the 1st inning, but Yovanovich pitched to only 17 batters over five innings, striking out seven and getting help from infielders Patrick Xu and Kyle Tannahill, who threw out runners at home. Albany tied the score in the bottom of the 1st when Yoshi Uemura singled home Paul Kennedy. In the 2nd inning, Marcellus Love and Robert Crowley set the table with a single and bunt single, respectively, for Albany to score four runs on an RBI groundout by Tannahill, RBI single by Xu, catcher's error and triple by Zachary Chiang. The Cougars broke the game open in the 3rd inning on a triple by Avi Rosenblum, RBI double by Love, two-run single by Tannahill and two-run double by Kennedy.

Patrick Xu singled home Robert Crowley with his third hit of the game to give host Albany the win in the bottom of the 7th. • Yoshi Uemura struck out 12 batters to get the win. After Acalanes went ahead on Spencer Henderson's single. Albany tied the score on Crowley's single to score Avi Rosenblum in the 2nd inning. • The Cougars went ahead when Paul Kennedy drove in Garrett Freeberg with an RBI single, and Uemura scored Xu with a sacrifice fly. • Acalanes tied the score with two outs in the top of the 7th inning when the Dons scored two runs on Zac Schoenrock's infield single.
